Children’s Literacy Initiative (CLI) actively seeks experienced Early Literacy Interventionists to work part-time (~25 hours per week) to provide Leveled Literacy Intervention services to K-3 struggling readers in assigned Chicago schools.  The children selected to receive these services are lowest achievers who find reading and writing difficult to learn.   As an Early Literacy Interventionist you will work with a small group of children for an extended time with the goal of bringing them to grade level.

The Hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 1 PM.

  • Provide Leveled Literacy Intervention services to K-3 struggling readers
  • Participate in CLI PD Collaboration and Staff Meetings
  • Work on assigned project/regional related work as needed
  • Master's Degree in Reading or Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Reading or Literacy
  • Must hold the appropriate State of Illinois (PEL) Professional Educator License with Reading Specialist Endorsement
  • Minimum of 5+ years of successful teaching in grades Pre-K to 3rd preferred
  • Intervention experience a plus i.e. Leveled Literacy Intervention or Reading Recovery trained
  • Knowledge and experience implementing and analyzing literacy assessments
  • Knowledge and experience successfully implementing Guided Reading and small group intervention
